ACC was founded in 2000 with the purchase of a rice drying and storage facility in Robbins, CA. In 2005 the company expanded greatly with the purchase of Great Western Growers (GWG). GWG has a rice drying, storage, and milling facility in Williams, CA and a rice drying and storage facility in Willows, CA. The company operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of ACC. Currently a large addition and remodel job is being done to the office at the Williams location. This will allow the Marketing and Field Services groups to relocate to Williams where the staff will operate under one roof. This move is anticipated in the summer of 2008.
Since the purchase of GWG in 2005, millions of dollars of improvements have been made in both the rice mill and the warehouses. At the warehouses, bins have been resealed, aeration systems updated, and elevators replaced – just to name a few. The big changes have come at the mill, however. GWG has been transformed into a premier, state of the art machine capable of producing some of the highest quality rice in the world. New stoners, shellers, whiteners, polishers (dry and wet) and sorters have all been added to improve the quality of the product before it goes into the bag. Robotics have been added on the packaging lines to assure that each bag is handled with the same amount of exacting care. New finished product storage has been added to assure that our customers’ products are kept safe and sound. Even more improvements are planned in the months and years ahead.
